Written in a stern and scholarly late-nineteenth-century style, William B. Smith, in an article which inspired the much more accessible piece by Rev. Thomas Freeman, this article sets out the case for conversion to a dozenal base. It makes a brief but compelling case for the superiority of dozenal over decimal, sets out a system of dozenal nomenclature, uses "t" and "e" (like Freeman) for "ten" and "eleven," and even outlines a system of metrology based on the hour and the yard. |
